Resin
A general purpose resin (thixotropic) used for repairing cracks, holes and imperfections in fibreglass.
Gelcoat
Gelcoat is a modified resin which is applied in the liquid state. It is cured to form crosslinked polymers and is backed up with composite polymer matrices, often mixtures of polyester resin and fiberglass or epoxy resin with glass.
Fibreglass Matting
To be used with Fibreglass Resin and Catalyst for general repairs to boats, bikes, trucks, surfboards and cars.
Catalyst / Hardener
The most commonly used catalyst is called MEKP. It is referred to as a “Room temperature” catalyst, making it the most commonly used. MEKP is used in various percentage rates to control the catalysing rates of polyester resins.
Fillers
The heavy weight of fillers is used with polyester resin as a filler or bog type glue.
Epoxy Resin
Epoxy Resin comes in two (2) parts- the resin itself, and the hardener. Epoxy cures clear and can be used on table covers, boat decks, and/or floors and such. There are a number of mix ratios for Epoxy resins and they relate to the amount of hardener used to the resin.
